English first people covers the study of First Peoples literature, oral traditions, and reconciliation, primarily in Canada and British Columbia. It emphasizes themes common in First Peoples texts (like land connection and identity) and the importance of oral traditions,  The curriculum focuses on understanding these texts, following proper rules for engagement, and learning communication skills to support connection between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities

Though it is dependent on the teacher’s teaching style, most is a mix of traditional English literature, such as reading, writing, and quiz or test on the subject, as well as some project based learning about identity, the first people and much more. So expect reading and writing assignments, as well as projects on the big ideas of the course.
