English Language Arts is a foundational subject that equips students with the English skills required for their success in school and career. It emphasis on Communication, Thinking, and Personal and Social core competencies.
Content
Grade 8 to 9
instead of English and socials, Grade 8 students have a combined subject called Humanities 8, it focuses on the development of basic knowledge and application of skills in both the English and Social Studies curriculum. in the literature part, it focuses on reading comprehension, improving writing skills and student inquiry.
In ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS 9 students focuses heavily on communicating effectively, presenting info and ideas with confidence and fluency, and understanding the connections between language and culture
Grade 10 to 11
In grade 10 there is 2 courses for English. COMPOSITION AND SPOKEN LANGUAGE 10, Or LITERARY STUDIES AND CREATIVE WRITING 10. Both course meets the graduation requirement for English Language Arts 10. The First one focuses exploring and creating coherent, purposeful compositions, And introducing students to varied structures, forms, and styles of oral compositions. However the second one lets the students explore more induvially in the literature of a particular era, geographical area, or theme.
Literary Studies 11 allows the students delve deeply into literature in addition to exploring the core competencies. Students can explore specific themes,
Grade 12
In grade 12 there is a lot of ELA course to choose from such as EN: ENGLISH STUDIES 12, EN: LITERARY STUDIES 12 and CREATIVE WRITING 12. The First 2 focuses on allowing students to delve more deeply into literature through increasingly complex texts. And allow themselfs to explore the topic in literature THEY want such as specific themes, periods, authors, or areas of the world through literary works. The last one however is for students who wanted to refine their writing skill or produce large bodies of composition.
